Mona bags the biggie ‘3 Idiots’

She made you laugh and cry as 'Jassi', and her moves on 'Ek Khiladi Ek Haseena' have left audiences spellbound, and now, Mona Singh fans can get ready for more as the Telly actress is gearing up for her big screen debut. Mona Singh has been planning her big Bollywood debut for 3-long years now, and finally the actress has signed her first movie '3 Idiots' which is being directed by Rajkumar Hirani.
Mona Singh will be playing Kareena Kapoor's older sister in '3 Idiots'. Mona is ecstatic with the thought that she would get to share the screen with superstars Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor; the actress expressed, “I couldn't have asked for a better launch pad.”
Director Rajkumar Hirani is known to be quite picky when it comes to casting actors in his movies, but looks like he is convinced about Mona's acting prowess as ‘Jassi Jaissi Koi Nahin’.

SRK's tour no longer Tempt-ing

Just three days remaining for the 'Temptations' to kick-off, and actor King Khan's tour is already in a big trouble as various organizers have pulled out from the show at the last minute. Shahrukh was to tour Germany's three cities, Berlin, Munich and Frankfurt starting October 18th, but the actor was in a shock when the company 'Sensasian Media' backed out of the tour.
Bollywood actresses Kareena Kapoor and Katrina Kaif were all set to tour, and Arjun Rampal too was on board for the world tour, but little did the stars know that the 'recession' would hit their show as well. While the German sponsor has pulled out his support, the Spain sponsor are still keen on having the show, but it makes no economic sense to take the stars all the way to Spain for just a single show, so that has been cancelled as well.
Shahrukh and his tour will however, be performing in Dubai later this month. The cancellation of the shows at the last minute has put Shahrukh's reputation at risk, and the star is quite upset with the Moranis Brothers, who were assigned the task of promoting the show.
So looks like for now, the Mumbai to Dubai will be the only ‘Temptation’ trip; not sure if this would be a very ‘Tempting’ proposition for the stars

Salman's respect for the Sikhs

Actor Akshay Kumar proved that 'Singh is Kinng', and now it is time for Salman to pay his tribute to the brave community in his next 'Heroes'. Actor Salman Khan revealed that he did not shave for days and grew his moustache and beard which was one of his ways of paying respect to the holy Sikh religion.
The Sikh religion forbids smoking, and when Salman learnt about the fact the actor even gave up his smoking habit. When we asked Sallu if the rumors were true, the actor expressed, “Normally, I don't talk about it, but it’s true that I gave up smoking during the shoot of the movie (‘Heroes’) as I believe that if you are going to respect somebody's religion then, they will respect yours.”
Co-stars Sunny Deol, Dino Morea, Bobby Deol and Preity Zinta were so impressed with Salman's dedication that they have started calling him ‘The True Hero'.

Priyanka-n-Kangana gear up to ‘A’ce

'Fashion' is one of the most awaited movies of the year, and the controversial movie which threatens to expose the dark side of the fashion world has been finally cleared by the Censors, but with an 'A' certificate. The censors found the love making scene shots on Priyanka and her boyfriend to be quite bold; they also stated that Kangana’s intimate scenes were quite vulgar as well. The Censor also had issues with scenes in which Priyanka and Kangana are shown taking 'Marijuana', and snorting and injecting 'drugs'.
The Censor board felt that such scenes could leave a bad impact on the audience especially the ones under the age of 18 so, although the board has decided to clear the movie, it has tagged 'Fashion' with an 'A' certificate. Madhur, who was hoping the censor would be flexible enough to tag Fashion with 'U' certificate instead which would have helped pull crowd from all age groups, has no choice now but to accept the censors decision.
On a positive note, the censor’s decision could very well act as a silver lining as the ‘A’ tag might help pull hoards of 18+ audiences to checkout some ‘skin show’ by Priyanka and of course the Kangana ‘Kandy’ in ‘Fashion’.

Kat-n-John in ‘New York’

She dared her boyfriend by signing a movie opposite Salman's biggest enemy, Shahrukh Khan, and now, if sources are to be believed then, Katrina has agreed to work with Salman's next big opponent, John Abraham.
Katrina, who has been mostly seen in Akshay Kumar and Salman Khan starrer movies, now wants to explore Bollywood’s younger talent and that could have very well be the reason for Kat to agree to work with John. Yash Chopra is yet again the man, who turned the ‘almost impossible’ to a ‘possible reality’ as he managed to convince Katrina to do a movie with John Abraham and Niel Nitin Mukesh in the lead. A Yashraj flick with two young Bollywood heartthrobs coupled with the loads of ‘green bills’; it doesn’t get better than that, and Kat was quick to grab the offer.
The movie which is tentatively titled 'New York' will be directed by Kabir Khan, who had earlier directed 'Kabul Express' with John in the lead. In one of his interviews Salman had expressed that he would not appreciate Kat working with SRK, Vivek or John; and Salman won't be too excited about Kat playing John’s co-star.
What seems to be really interesting though is that Kat has signed movies with both SRK and John when Salman is away in London.

Main Bhi Kinng’ competition was hosted by Radio Mirchi, and Akshay Kumar along with his ‘Singh is Kinng’ team crowned the winners. After the movie painting promotion event, Akshay and Katrina rushed to the Taj President hotel at Cuffee Parade in Mumbai, where the event was being hosted.
Akki and Kat were joined by co-stars Kirron Kher, Neha Dhupia, Javed Jaffrey, Sonu Sood and Sudhanshu Pandey.

Salman supports Bihar victims

He may be away in London shooting for Vipul Shah's 'London Dreams', but Salman's heart still yearns for the flood victims in Bihar. Salman Khan, who is currently working on three biggies - Anil Sharma's 'Veer', Vipul's 'London Dreams' and Subhash Ghai's 'Yuvvraj', is sure one of the busiest stars in Bollywood. In fact, Salman is so busy that he could not make it for the 'Eid' celebrations with his family and close friends in Mumbai.
Despite his hectic schedule, Salman has removed time for charity and will be making a quick trip to Mumbai to perform at a charity event designed to raise funds for victims of Bihar floods. The concert will be held in Mumbai at the Anderhi Sports complex and Salman will be joined by Ajay Devgan, Nana Patekar and Manoj Bajpai. Salman agreed to the concert as the proceeds go for victims and so he removed time for his tight schedule to make the concert a success, now this is why we say Sallu is quite the 'Yuvvraj'.

Sonam walks out on Ranbir

'Oops she did it again' is what comes to my mind as for the second time in a row, Sonam Kapoor has refused a project starring Ranbir Kapoor. The star kids made their big Bollywood debut in 'Saawariya', and the rumor had it that Sonam and Ranbir were dating each other as well.
Yashraj films is producing ‘Chak De’ director Shimit Amin's next, and he was keen on casting Sonam and Ranbir in the leads for his project. While Ranbir agreed to do the project, Sonam demanded a script narration and shied away from the project saying she was not comfortable with the character.
This is not the first time that Sonam refused a movie starring Ranbir, earlier too she had refused 'Mera Jahaan' starring Ranbir and Deepika, the reason was obivious Sonam didn't want to work with Deepika. While Ranbir keeps denying that he dated Sonam, insiders say that he dumped her for Deepika and she can't get over the fact. Ranbir is keen on working with Sonam, but the Kapoor girl has decided to give him a hard this time as she has refused yet another project with her ex-‘Saawariya’

Abhishek still no match for Hrithik

Ever since Abhishek Bachchan and Hrithik Roshan made their debut in 2000 they have regularly been compared and pitted against each other. Having Bollywood genes in their blood both have had a similar childhood and grew up around the silver screen. But when it comes to acting and stardom Hrithik has always been miles ahead of Abhishek. Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai and Refugee released in the same year. Roshan Jr announced his arrival in style while Abhishek had a tough time stepping into his father’s shoes. When the two stars came together on screen for first time in Dhoom 2 also featuring Aishwarya it was Hrithik’s show once again and he seemed to be too heavy for Abhishek. Critics would argue that Hrithik was given a better role but a good actor will make his presence felt even in a cameo. Isn’t Sholay more remembered for Amjad Khan than for Amitabh and Dharmendra.Then came the biggest battle between the two stars when Abhishek decided to Drona to challenge Hrithik who had become Bollywood’s most famous superhero after his breathtaking performance in Krrish. This time too sadly Junior B failed to put up a show against his childhood friend Duggu. Not only the film fail to achieve a good opening across the country, it is now even been compared to Tashan another disaster of the year.
The reasons why Drona failed when compared to Krrish may be many but there is not a bigger culprit than the script of the movie. Jaydeep Sarkar, Rohini Killough and director Goldie Behl penned an apology of a script. Compared to the character of Krishna in Krrish Drona seemed like a confused child who has to time and again be reminded of the magical powers he posses. There were even talks that Drona resembled more of a Rajput prince than a superhero. For generations of Bollywood fans who have grown up watching agile characters of Spiderman and Superman, Drona looked too human to be a superhero. Also Abhishek’s physical appearance and fitness level which are so important in a superhero character were not match to that of Hrithik.The villain played by Kay Kay Menon resembled a ridiculous fool at times and was no match for Naseeruddin Shah who played Dr. Siddhant Arya in Krrish. Drona was promoted to have the most expensive villain ever in Bollywood. The filmmakers should have realised that the audience today is not alien to special effects due the popularity of Hollywood movies. A good character works when it has substance and not when SFX is embedded around it. The only person who smiled the way home would be Priyanka Chopra having been a part of both the superhero movies.
In the end Abhishek Bachchan played his part pretty decently in the movie. He was terribly let down by the screenplay, the picture could have been totally different had the script been treated differently. Alas the fact remains Abhishek has to live with Drona being his failure. More importantly he has again failed to match up to Hrithik’s standards. Salman-Ash together again

Salman Khan and Aishwarya Rai will be seen in a film together, albeit not as romantic leads. Director Priyadarshan has finally managed to rope in Aishwarya for his next, and the film reportedly features a cameo by Salman. The male lead has yet to be confirmed. Considering the bitterness between the two stars, we’d like to wish Priyan all the best!
Sushmita Sen’s home production hasn’t kicked off yet. The actress is apparently in a fix. Sush has been looking for a screenplay writer for Jhansi ki Rani Laxmibai and filming will begin only when she manages to do so. Meanwhile, the prospects for her production house are looking good and Sushmita is consistently expanding financially (and physically).
Malaika Arora Khan is peeved at television actor Bakhtyar Irani. Apparently, the two had an exchange of words on the sets of Zara Nachke Dikha. Malaika is particularly unhappy with Bakhtyar throwing his attitude around and has advised him to give his ego a rest for future reality shows. We hope Bakhtyar pays heed to the advice. It’s coming from a well-built, hot headed actor’s sister-in-law after all.

Shahrukh’s wife invited Salman’s family

Shahrukh Khan’s wife Gauri celebrated her birthday at Mannat in Bandra last night. Usually, every year her friend used to organize her birthday party but this time she has herself arranged everything and invited all her close kin and kith. Among her close friends, she invited Maheep (Sanjay) Kapoor, Malaika (Arbaaz) Khan, Seema (Sohail) Khan and Bhavna (Chunky) Pandey. By inviting the Khans, the lady has shown that both the families are very much united and they don’t let Sallu-SRK fight to come in the way of their friendship. Sohail Khan also favors Shahrukh and both enjoyed Eid party in a grand way. Some of the other guests who turned up to wish the birthday girl included Arjun Rampal and Mehr Jesia, Deepika Padukone and Ranbir Kapoor, Karan Johar, Kaajal Anand, Farah Khan and Shirish Kunder, Priyanka Chopra and Harman Baweja.
Great food, great music and plenty of entertainments like games was included at Shahrukh’s party and all the guests had a rocking evening. They celebrated till the wee hours of the morning.

Akshay Kumar lures Superman to India

Akshay Kumar is going places. The actor who is enjoying box office success and the status of numero uno in Bollywood is slowly broadening his horizons. Better known as Superman from the Superman series, Brandon Routh has been roped in by producer Sajid Nadiadwala for his magnum opus, Kambhaqt Ishq. Nadiadwala is getting the who’s who of Hollywood to star in his film that is being directed by newbie director Sabir Khan. After Slyvester Stallone and Denise Richards, it is Brandon Routh.A source present on the sets revealed, “Akshay and Brandon had to perform a stunt scene together. It was the most crucial scene of the film. It was the most dangerous too. Brandon was very impressed with Akshay after watching him perform dangerous stunts for the film. He was surprised that in Bollywood actors performed the stunt scenes themselves.”"Also both the stars exchanged tips on fitness action and martial arts.
It was fun to see them bond. Brandon was very happy working with the team of Kambakkth… It is difficult to get him considering his phenomenol popularity as Superman,” disclosed our source.

Shilpa misses Bigg Boss

The cinema and television worker’s 2-day strike this week found an unusual victim in Shilpa Shetty. While other film folks just stayed away for an impromptu holiday when the film industry’s workers went on strike, Shilpa Shetty was caught in a peculiar situation. Coincidentally, she was the only major film star scheduled to shoot for a television programme. Bigg Boss, as it happened to be. It seems all other cine-celebs like Shahrukh Khan, Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar have gathered their loot and run home from the home medium, leaving the coast clear for Shilpa who has to fly down to Mumbai for the Bigg Boss recording every Friday, no matter which part of the world she is in.This Friday proved a nightmare. Unaware of the workers’ strike in the industry she flew from Singapore to Mumbai and drove all the way to Karjat for the shooting…. Only to be told that she may not be allowed to shoot. But before Shilpa could backtrack she was assured that a solution was being worked out even as she waited on Friday to record for the reality show.Finally, Shilpa was not seen by Bigg Boss viewers. Says the shaken actress. “It was quite a nightmare. I waited the whole day at Karjat for my shooting, and finally left without doing so. That’s why I was missing on Friday’s episode of Bigg Boss. So many people have been calling and messaging thinking I’m unwell or something’s wrong. But I couldn’t shoot because of the strike.”
Until just an hour before the Friday episode of Bigg Boss, the crucial eviction episode when this time, Sambhavna was evicted, Shilpa was told the strike would end and she would quickly record. “I was on standby till the last minute hoping that the strike will be called off in time. But by the time we got news of the strike being called off, it was too late. The Bigg Boss house-mate Sambhavna had to be evicted without my participation.

Joining the league of international stars like Victoria Beckham, Madonna and Jennifer Lopez, Bollywood actress Kareena Kapoor is all set to launch her own web site.The site would inform surfers about the actress’ latest fashion trends. “Kareena’s official website is going to be on an absolutely tech savvy format. It’s going to be on the lines of the sites of international stars like Victoria Beckham, Madonna and Jennifer,” a source close to the actress revealed on Tuesday. The source added, “Her website is going to be more fashion oriented. The site will have updates not only of Kareena’s fashion trends but also other trends that take place all over the globe”. The actress has been known for her fashion presence even in the fashion fraternity and looks forward to sharing her trend sense with her fans through the site. “She has sound knowledge about the fashion industry and the web site will give her a chance to share her fashion knowledge with her fans.
There have been a number of occasions when Kareena has even actively participated in designing her own costumes for films,” said the source.Kareena is also the brand ambassador of a global fashion retail chain Globus.

Salman Khan always prefers to take a back seat when it comes to the marketing front of his movies and was also missing from all the promotional rounds of his new film Hello. Salman Khan says hello to his fans this Friday as Atul Agnihotri directed Hello hits theatres. Though his co-stars Sohail Khan, Sharman Joshi, Amrita Arora and Gul Panag have been busy promoting the film through the week, Salman has preferred to take a back seat on the marketing front. “My job is acting. People, fans know what to expect from a film, they will go and see it. I don’t believe in promoting a film,” says Salman. Apart from films the actor’s love life has kept Salman in the news. After all the rumours of a split with Katrina have died down, Bollywood’s chronic bachelor insists that it’s Katrina’s simplicity that keeps him tied to her. “I love simple girls. Nice, simple, straight. I don’t like women who manipulate and scheme,” says the actor. VO3: “Hello” sees Salman dance shirtless once again to a popular track titled Bang Bang and at 43 he seems to be doing a good job of it. “We have grown up on disco dancing and those typical filmi struggling days so it is very difficult to adapt that body language but we have tried,” adds Salman.

That’s what wives are for, we suppose. Abhishek Bachchan’s super-hyped superhero flick Drona has proved to be a super dud. But despite the harsh critical and audience feedback, wife Aishwarya is all praise. The younger Mrs Bachchan arrived in a pale yellow outfit at a Longines store launch in Delhi. And all the actress could do was laud hubby and his film. While we appreciated her standing by Abhi through thick and thin, we also thought she may have gone on a wee bit too much. “I think he’s a wonderful actor. I’ve always admired his approach to his work. You have to admire all the actors (in Drona), I did. Abhishek played Drona realistically. I viewed the film through a child’s eyes. It has to be perceived as a fantasy adventure,” and so on and so forth. Aishwarya even went on to heave praise on Priyanka Chopra and Kay Kay Menon, her husband’s co-stars. And it was then that we realised she was only being her politically correct self. What followed were more accolades for the directors of her forthcoming films, Robot and Ravana. Ash continued to say the nicest things about Shankar and Mani Ratnam. Next, was the Unforgettable Tour she’s just returned from. Although, actors like Preity Zinta and Riteish Deshmukh reportedly had some trouble during the trip, Aishwarya seemed to have enjoyed every bit of it.
When it came to turning her attention back to the event she was at, Ash was quick. “I believe in the brand, in its outlook. I believe in their motto, ‘Elegance is an attitude’. It stands true to my own approach,” she said.

Rani snubs Bhansali for Shah Rukh Khan

She was not willing to play second fiddle to Vidya Balan who was finalized as the main lead opposite Harman Baweja. Bhansali told her that he won't change Vidya as that would be very unprofessional on his part. Rani refused to budge."Industry observers feel it was purposely done by Rani as she didn't want to be a part of any Bhansali film. She doesn't wish to offend Shah Rukh Khan who is not on good terms with Bhansali post their potshots at each other last year. No. It’s how I used to feel previously but now the time is quite changed and I am also quite easy with the industry. Previously I had problems understanding the differences between Kolkata and Mumbai industries. Now I know that if I wish to be a part of any film in this industry then I would have to understand the industry first. So, I have set my mind in that way only. But don’t take it otherwise. I have not forgotten my Kolkata which is still my home. I am a brand name over there and I want the same status here also. Q. That means you want to be a brand name in Mumbai, too. A. Absolutely. People in Kolkata know me well for both commercial and arty films. I want to attain the same status here also. I think I can get it by a combination of my approach towards both commercial films as well as art films. I am trying my best. Q. You did your first film in Hindi Main Meri Patni Aur Woh almost four years back and still you are struggling for your recognition. What do you think is the reason? A. I have chosen the right film. But it’s not my fault that it didn’t work at the box office. Take for example, Gauri The Unborn which is based on the contemporary topic of abortion.It’s by R Mohan who made a hit like Chandni Bar. But Gauri didn’t appeal the audience. Besides a good production value the film had a star like Atul Kulkarni but it failed miserably. You can also remember Sirf which is a multistarrer with names like Manisha Koirala, Kay Kay Menon, Nauhid Cyrusi, Ranvir Shorey, Sonali Kulkarni and Parvin Dabas. Again I think that I chose a right film but it didn’t work. I think I have to be doubly cautious in choosing films.

What's wrong in asking for a Condom: Gul Panag

Maybe that's why they call Bollywood as the other name for 'unexpectedness'.It's kind of strange that on one hand, there are zillions of ads on radio and TV that advocate (in their own creative ways) the importance of using a condom. But, on the other hand, there is our Censor Board which has ordered the chopping of a scene from the forthcoming film Hello that has actress Gul Panag mouthing the usage of 'condom'.The scene in question has Gul asking Sharman Joshi (to whom she is paired opposite) whether he is carrying a condom before they have sex.The deletion of the 'condom' word from the scene has angered Gul to no end, so much so that she is now planning to write a letter to the Censor officials about this absurd decision on their part.Gul argues that since the scene required her and Sharman to make love, she, like any educated woman asks if he is carrying a condom, before they get on with the act.Gul finds it funny that even though the lovemaking scene is retained, the word 'condom' has been chopped off from the dialogue. She also added that this decision only exhibits the double standards of the Censor Board.

Who's Genelia's real love?

Of late Imran Khan's perky heroine from 'Jaane Tu... Ya Jaane Na' has been denying her relationship with Riteish Deshmukh with a cliché "we're just friends" statement.She's reportedly said, "I'm very much single. Riteish is a friend. But that's it. I've no idea where these rumours come from. We're both very busy. When we occasionally meet up, we're normal with each other, not the least self conscious about what's written about us. I'm very new to all this.."Is it because the girl wants to bask in the glory of her new found success and her re-launch as a teeny bopper character? Bollywood Gossip : Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan is developing a cluster of signature buildings on Al Dana Island in Ras Al Khaimah, one of the UAE's seven emirates, a media report said.The project in association with the TSA International Investments is called Shah Rukh Khan Boulevard.According to the Arabian Business Magazine the actor will be in Dubai from October 6 to 9 to announce the project at real estate expo Cityscape Dubai.Shah Rukh has reportedly been keenly involved in the conceptualisation of the project that has been designed by celebrity architect Tony Ashai.Buyers have been invited to offer refundable 'expression of interest' cheques for the proposed studio, one and two bedroom apartments, but sales will begin only after the official launch by Khan on October 20.

Court issues notice to Mallika Sherawat

Bollywood Gossip : The Sessions Court has issued a notice to Bollywood actress Mallika Sherawat and the management of a five star hotel in an obscene case filed against them.Additional sessions judge S T Mahajan has directed the Bollywood actor and J W Marriot to file their replies to the notice by October 7.The notices were sent in an obscenity case filed against Sherawat and J W Marriot by a social worker Vinod Jain.Jain in his complaint had stated that on December 31, 2006, Sherawat had performed at the hotel in a skimpy attire.According to the complainant, Mallika Sherawat was wearing a skin-colored dress, which was obscene and revealing.

Reason?The actress just finished a ten day work shop with her idol Naseeruddin Shah who also stars in the film along with Bollywood Actor Arshad Warsi.A source close to the actress revealed, "The character that Vidya Balan is playing in Ishqiya is a very complex character which is very difficult to enact.Vidya thought that the way to emote the character on screen was best learnt from Naseeruddin Shah because the veteran actor was a master at it. She was ecstatic to be discussing cinema with the master himself.Even though one hears they ended up discussing the film and cinema at length instead of doing a serious workshop, Vidya Balan still treasures the experience and seem to be interested working with Naseer in the film. "Vidya also learnt to speak the UP dialect during those ten days. Vidya Balan was just not familiar with UP kind of Hindi. She mastered it by getting a teacher to teach her the exact dialect.

Bollywood Gossip : Bollywood Actress Vidya Balan had a phobia of driving until director Vishal Bharadwaj insisted her to learn to drive.Vidya's last release Kismat Konnection had her ramming her car into Shahid Kapur 's in her introductory scene. That might well have been the case with Vidya in real life as well had she sat behind the steering wheel without overcoming her longlasting fear of driving on busy roads.Vidya took driving lessons from an instructor in Chembur. She reportedly learnt to drive her own two cars -- Innova and Mercedes.It took a good number of days for Vidya to learn the skill but today she is happy to have overcome her fears.

Bollywood Gossip : Bollywood icon Shah Rukh Khan on Sunday teamed up with a UAE-based real estate firm to launch a USD 2.17 billion signature beachfront residential project in the gulf country.The development project, a tribute by King Khan in response to the love and affection shown by the people of the UAE to Indian cinema, Shah Rukh Khan Boulevard will be located on the Dana Island in Ras Al Khaimah.This is the latest in the series of endorsements and signature developments that are coming up in Dubai with names such as Brad Bitt, Boris Becker and Tiger Woods continuously doing the rounds.SRK will work closely with Los Angeles based architect Tony Ashai in the design concept of the beachfront community comprising 10 residential towers, it was announced during a press conference here.- MSN India
